Former 76er Doug Overton Pleads Guilty To Disorderly Conduct In An Indecent Exposure Case
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia basketball star Doug Overton has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from allegations that he exposed himself on the Cynwyd trail earlier this year.
Doug Overton, 47, pleaded guilty to three counts of disorderly conduct and gets one year of probation, while agreeing to undergo a psychosexual evaluation.
It happened around noon on Sunday, April 30. According to charging documents, Lower Merion Township police received multiple calls of a man exposing himself on the Cynwyd Heritage Trail.
One of the witnesses told police she had talked with the man the day before, and even pet his dog. But she told police as she exchanged pleasantries with the man, she noticed his genitals were outside of his shorts.
Overton is the head coach at Lincoln University. He was a star in high school at Dobbins Tech, then went on to LaSalle University before an 11-year career in the NBA, including two stints with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Prosecutors say he took responsibility for the day in question and has been cooperative throughout.
Overton and his attorney declined comment, his attorney saying the plea speaks for itself.
