Police: Man Turns Tables On Attacker, Fatally Stabs Knife-Wielding Suspect

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a man turned the tables on his attacker, stabbing and killing him inside his apartment Sunday night in Kensington.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. at inside a first floor apartment along the 3400 block of Frankford Avenue near Ontario Street.

Police say a 57-year-old man was lying in bed when his attacker entered his room and began hitting him with a metal bookend. Authorities say the suspect then left the room and returned with several knives and began stabbing the man repeatedly.

During the assault, authorities say the man wrestled away one knife from his attacker and stabbed him in the chest. That's when the victim fled the apartment and contacted police.

Responding officers searched the residence and found the 47-year-old suspect on the floor of the bathroom. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

So far, there has been no arrest.

The investigation is ongoing.
