Double-A Reading Filled With Phillies Prospects

READING, Pa. (CBS) -- The Phillies minor league system has done an about face the last few seasons.

It wasn't that long ago that the system was one of the weakest in all of Major League Baseball. But thanks to some very good drafting and some key trades, the Phils now have blue chip prospects up and down the line in the minors.

Many of the most impressive players are in Reading this season, playing for the Double-A Fightin Phils. They have helped Reading to a 56-23 record, the best in professional baseball.

Two Reading players will play in the Futures Game next month (OF Dylan Cozens and RHP Ricardo Pinto) and six Fightin Phils have been chosen to take part in the upcoming Eastern League All-Star Game (Cozens, 1B Rhys Hoskins, C Jorge Alfaro, INF Jesmuel Valentin, RHP Nick Pivetta, and LHP Hoby Milner).

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Reading radio play-by-play voice Mike Ventola about some of these prospects on the Fightin Phils roster.
