Donations Will Pay For Funerals Of Children Who Died In SW Philadelphia Fire

By Pat Loeb

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Four children who died in a Southwest Philadelphia fire on July 5th will be buried next month in a Delaware County cemetery. All expenses will be paid through the kindness of strangers.

As a funeral director, Trish Quinn knows death. But nothing makes her sadder than the death of a child. So nine years ago, she started Final Farewell, a non-profit to help families pay funeral costs.

For the four children killed in the Gesner Street fire, she says all expenses will be paid, thanks to extra help from colleagues and Red Cross donations.

"It was such a great loss at one time, not only their children, which will affect them the rest of the parents' lives, but they lost everything -- their home, everything in it."

Quinn says casket vendors offered discounts and her parish priest helped secure graves at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Springfield, Delaware County. Burial is August 16th and will follow services at First Baptist Church of Paschall.
