Dom Giordano Talks To Maureen Faulkner About Failed Justice Department Nomination

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Earlier today (Friday, 3/7) on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, Dom Giordano spoke with Maureen Faulkner, the wife of Daniel Faulker, a Philadelphia police officer murdered in 1981 by Mumia Abu-Jamal, about the Senate's vote this week to reject President Obama's nomination of Debo Adegbile to head the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division. While heading the NAACP's legal defense fund, Adegbile worked in support of Abu-Jamal, aiding in his removal from death row.

"It's been a long 32 years for the Faulkner family and I to have to endure this. In 2011, when Mumia Abu-Jamal was taken off death row and put back into a different prison for life without parole, I felt as though it was done and I could move on with my life…[But] once again, I had to put my vest on and endure the fight to do the right thing. It's been a long couple of weeks," Faulkner said about having to re-engage in the political struggle against advocates of Abu-Jamal.

Faulkner believes Adegbile is not worthy of working in the Justice Department based on the efforts he, and the NAACP, put in to promote Abu-Jamal while attempting to rehabilitate his public image.

"They flew over to Paris when they unveiled the street in his name…they spoke of how wonderful it was to be able to be there with everyone, naming a street after Mumia Abu-Jamal. Well, this is wrong and people need to know. This is not just an organization defending a client. They are championing this client," she said.
