Dog Stranded On Ice Rescued In Trenton

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) - A community pulled together Sunday to rescue a dog that was stranded on the ice in the Delaware River in Trenton, New Jersey.
Duke, who went missing in the bitter cold for days, was spotted out on the ice. For hours, people tried to rescue the dog, but to no avail.
That's when the Ewing Animal Shelter called Russ Miller.
'I said let me get my stuff together and I'll be out there," Miller tells CBS3 Eyewitness News.
So Miller and one other person set out onto the ice, pulling a kayak incase they broke through. They finally reached Duke, who wouldn't come willingly.
"He didn't bite, but he definitely didn't want to get in that kayak, so we had to tie him down, Miller said.
They made the treacherous trip back to land, where Duke was reunited with his owner:
"I'm just glad that I'm able to bring him home tomorrow," she said.
The shelter examined Duke, and they say he appears to be just fine.
