Dog Poo Forces Philadelphia-Bound Flight To Divert To Kansas City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- A Philadelphia-bound flight was forced to divert Wednesday after a dog defecated on board.

A U.S. Airways spokesperson confirms a service dog became ill on board Flight 598 from Los Angeles to Philadelphia.

The level of odor in the cabin became uncomfortable for passengers.  The spokesperson says the captain decided to divert the flight to Kansas City,  Missouri in the best interest of customers and crew.

Passengers were able to step out into the boarding area as crews cleaned and prepared the aircraft to continue the trip.

The spokesperson says service dogs are trained to fly and this is a rare occurrence.

U.S. Airways apologizes for the flight interruption and for the inconvenience.
