DNC Host Committee Making History

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Library of Congress will archive the Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee's website and social channels as historical record.

The United States Library of Congress has selected the organization's website and social media channels for inclusion in the Library's public policy web archives.

"It is the thrill of a lifetime to be included in the library of congress, and I can't wait for people to look back at Philadelphia hosting the convention and see how gorgeous the city looked," says Host committee Director of Digital and Social Annie Heckenberger. "Our strategy was really to present and tell the story of Philadelphia as it exists today which is really this authentic cosmopolitan place"

The collection to be archived will include more than 60 blogs, as well as content from their social channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

"One of my favorite things about the Library of Congress archiving our content is that so much of it was created and generated by Philadelphians," adds Heckenberger.

The volunteer digital team included over 200 volunteers.
