DMV In Norristown Debuts New Technology

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - PennDOT secretary Leslie Richards paid a visit to the new driver's license center in Norristown Friday to show off some of the latest innovations that will be rolled out across the state.

PennDOT secretary Leslie Richards read off some of the new features at the center, including a text message option rather than waiting in line:

"Then they have the freedom to walk about and wait until their number is about to be called. They can really enjoy some fresh air and some of the local stores here in Norristown."

Norristown will be the first location in the state to offer reservations that can be made online.

There's also an app called "My Fun Wait" -- a game you can download while you wait.

"This app will give the customer updates on their place in the queue while they play," explains Richards, "and Pennsylvania will be the first DMV in the nation to implement this technology."

The center opened earlier this summer in the shopping center at Markley Street and Johnson Highway.
