Dilworth Park Ice Skating Rink Open For Business

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The ice skating rink at City Hall's Dilworth Park is now open.

Paul Levy, president of the Center City District, says since their seasonal ice skating rink officially reopened on Veteran's Day, they held a special salute to those who have served:

"We had a group of staff right in the middle of the ice and a very, very large flag was unfurled."

He says the winter rink is completely separate from the summer fountains:

"We've layered down insulation and we put the rink in place and we've been freezing ice for about two weeks (it's a) totally separate water system (from the summer fountains)."

Now in its third year, Levy invites folks to come skate at City Hall:

"We're bringing things back that were very successful last year…the Rothman Institute Rink and The Cabin, which is a great place to get warm food and drink. But we've added to Dilworth Park a series of new attractions this year. Number one, we've got a bit of gardening right here in the middle of the city, it's a great place to walk around, and then we will be bringing back the winter markets here."

A giant tree will also be added over the next few weeks.
