Diet Soda Alone Is Not The Answer To Weight Loss

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - You would have to be living under a rock not to notice that there has been a large public health effort to promote diet drinks as a substitution for sugary calorie-rich drinks.

Research has found that that people in the US are listening. But is this switch leading to more weight loss?
According to a new study from Johns Hopkins, it turns out that overweight and obese adults consume diet drinks more frequently as compared to healthy-weight adults.

That is good news but here is the bad—they also consume significantly more calories from food and snacks when compared to healthy-weight adults.

The bottom line: if you're looking to lose weight, switching to diet drinks as a sole intervention will probably not provide you with the results you desire.
