Design Unveiled For Memorial Where 6 Died in 2013 Center City Building Collapse

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A design for the memorial to the victims of the building collapse at 22nd and Market Streets was unveiled today, at a ceremony marking the second anniversary of the tragedy.
Philadelphia city treasurer Nancy Winkler read the names of the shoppers and employees who died when the wall of the building being demolished next door fell on the Salvation Army thrift store:
"The six who were killed were Rosaleen Conti, Bobor Davis, Kimberly Finnegan, Juanita Harmon, Mary Simpson, and my daughter, Anne Bryan," Winkler said in a steady voice.
Winkler says she turned her grief for her daughter into a mission to get the site made into a memorial park. The Salvation Army donated the land. A team, working with the families, designed a three-panel black granite wall with six colored windows -- one for each victim.

But Winkler says it's about more than the victims.
"It is our hope that the memorial will keep the memory of this tragedy in the public mind to make sure it will never happen again," she said.
Construction will start as soon as fundraising is complete. The committee has three-quarters of the needed $1.1 million. Donations are being accepted at www.pennhort.net/memorial.
