Dense Fog Limits Visibility, Reduces Speeds On Area Roads

By Mike DeNardo

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (CBS) - Fog prevented visibility beyond a couple of hundred yards, at best. Driving was slower in the thick fog, and it was difficult to see traffic signals and tail lights until you were right on top of them.

One driver said it's not the red or green lights that are an issue for him -- it's finding the street signs and stop signs.

How bad was it? A woman on her way to work in Camden said she missed her exit and wound up paying the $5 toll to cross the Ben Franklin Bridge into Philadelphia because she just couldn't see through the fog.

Delays were being reported at Philadelphia International Airport. Anyone with questions about their flight should check www.PHL.org

There was a dense fog advisory in effect until 9am.

In some northern and western suburbs, the mist from the fog was turning into black ice on streets where the temperatures were below freezing.
