Democrat Boyle Beats Adcock For Open US House Seat

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Democrat Brendan Boyle has defeated Republican Carson Dee Adcock for an open congressional seat in suburban Philadelphia.

The three-term state representative from Philadelphia topped the Montgomery County businessman on Tuesday night for the seat in Pennsylvania's 13th Congressional District.

The seat was vacated by five-term U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, who made an unsuccessful bid for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination.

Boyle won the nomination for Schwartz's seat in a four-way Democratic primary.

Federal campaign finance reports show Boyle's campaign raised more than $1 million through Oct. 15. That's three times more than Adcock. He is the owner of a swimming pool equipment distribution company, and his campaign relied heavily on his own money.
