Official: Sergeant Suffers Burns After Molotov Cocktail Thrown While Serving Search Warrant

COLLINGDALE, Pa. (CBS)—Authorities say a sergeant with the Sheriff's Department in Collingdale, Delaware County, was injured after a molotov cocktail was allegedly thrown at him while he was serving a search warrant on Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 5 p.m. in the unit block of Macdade Boulevard.

Authorities tell CBS3 that the sergeant suffered burns to his legs after "something was thrown at him." Authorities believe that object was a molotov cocktail. Authorities also say they have discovered what they believe to be an additional 5-7 Molotov cocktails inside the home.

The sergeant was taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A man surrendered around 5:30 p.m. after he barricaded himself inside a home.

Police were responding to the home on a warrant for a probation violation.
