Delaware SPCA Asks Pet Owners To Relocate Remains

NEWARK, DE (CBS) – On Friday, the Delaware SPCA announced it will shut down its Stanton facility.

As a result, officials are asking anyone with a deceased pet buried on the grounds to relocate their animal's remains.

The cash-strapped facility plans on selling the 21-acre property located on the 400 block of Christiana Road.

More than 1,000 animals were buried on the property, in what was meant to be their final resting place. Some of their most notable inhabitants reportedly include "Captain," the country's first police dog.
