Delaware Police Arrest 10th Grader Accused Of Bringing Gun To School

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) --  State police in Delaware say a high school student was arrested on Tuesday, November 3 for bringing a handgun into the John Dickinson High School in Wilmington.  16-year-old Delvis Valladares is accused of showing other students the weapon in one of the restrooms.  One of those students told school authorities who promptly removed the 10th grader from class and found an unloaded 25 caliber handgun in his backpack.  No ammunition was located.

Valladares is charged with Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone. He was arraigned at the New Castle County Family Court and then committed to the Ferris School for lack of $7000.00 secured bond.

Dickinson High School was not placed in a lockdown status.
