Delaware Man Charged With 8th DUI Offense, Vehicular Assault

MILLSBORO, Del. (CBS) -- A Delaware man was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with an eighth DUI offense after allegedly causing a crash in Sussex County.

Police say 42-year-old William McGeehan of Laurel, Delaware was driving eastbound on John J. Williams Highway near the intersection of Layton Davis Drive east of Millsboro shortly before midnight Saturday when he drifted across the center line and struck a pickup truck head on.

McGeehan was taken to the Beebe Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, 22-year-old Olga Kilian, was also taken to the hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.

Police say McGeehan displayed signs of being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and was arrested. A DUI investigation revealed he had seven previous DUI convictions.

Along with the Felony DUI offense, McGeehan was also charged with Vehicular Assault, Driving Under the Influence Negligence Causes, Failure to have Insurance in Possession and Failure to Remain in Single Lane.

He was being held on more than $12,000 cash bond.
