Delaware Gets Ready For Latest Round Of Snow

NEWARK, Del., (CBS) -- Crews from the Delaware Department of Transportation prepared to work through the night as snow arrives late in Delaware.

With hundreds of crews spread across the state, their mission -- stay ahead of Mother Nature.

"We get all the trucks loaded, we bring guys in early, as soon as it starts, we're ready to go," Jim Sullivan of DelDOT said.

In New Castle and Kent Counties, the full staff returned to work at 8 p.m. This is about 170 people per county.

In Sussex County, 30 people are remaining at work this evening, monitoring the roads, and the rest of the staff has been told to expect to be called back to work sometime after 8 p.m.

"It's a lot easier for us to do our jobs with no traffic on the road," Christopher Haas of DelDOT said.

Lucky for him this latest storm is hitting Delaware in the overnight hours, and officials say drivers will be working throughout the night and into the morning hours, this to ensure that the morning commuters get to their destination safely.
