"The original guidance out of the CDC was phase one, phase two, phase three. We talked to them about maybe doing them in interim steps and they felt like that was as good or better than strict phases," he said. "I think part of it is getting the public and business owners familiar and used to doing things differently."

According to the Delaware Division of Public Health, there have been 156 new coronavirus cases, bringing the statewide total to 8,965.

Six new deaths were also announced. The death toll is now at 332. Those individuals ranged in age from 21 to 103 years old.

The governor says he wants to gradually reopen the state to avoid any setbacks in the fight against COVID-19.

He added that an announcement will come tomorrow.
