Del Val College to Offer Courses at Horsham Air Guard Station, in Willow Grove

By Brad Segall

HORSHAM, Pa. (CBS) -- Delaware Valley College, in Doylestown (Bucks County), Pa., has inked a deal with the Pennsylvania Air National Guard to expand educational opportunities for military personnel serving at the former Willow Grove Naval Air Station.

Del Val College currently offers courses at two other military installations in the state, so it was only natural to expand that to what is now called the Horsham Air Guard Station, in Willow Grove.

The college will offer undergraduate and graduate level courses, including an MBA program.

Kerr Smith, the military and veterans' affairs certifying officer at Del Val, says those courses will be delivered on site.

"The soldiers and airmen really like the opportunity to pursue higher education courses right there on the base, so they finish their duties on the base and go right to class," he told KYW Newsradio today.

Smith says they can receive tuition assistance from the military or use the use the post-9/11 GI Bill to pay for it.  Or, they may be eligible for military scholarships through the school.

He says the courses are designed to help the military personnel prepare for an ever-changing workforce.
