Del. Police Arrest Home Invasion Suspect Who Allegedly Assaulted Elderly Man

DOVER, Del. (CBS) – Police in Delaware now say they've arrested a suspect in connection with a home invasion and assault of an elderly man.

Around 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25th, police say Deneque Dunham, 39, knocked on the door of a 76-year-old man's residence on the 100 block of Ann Avenue in Dover.

Apparently, the victim knew the suspect because she'd previously been hired to clean his home.

When the victim refused to allow Dunham in, she went to the back door and tried to come inside there.

A confrontation led to Dunham throwing the man to the ground outside of his residence. She then went inside and stole medication and the victim's wallet, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash and various cards.

Dunham then threw the elderly man to the ground once more as she exited the home and fled the scene. Police were searching for her on Thursday before she turned herself in late Thursday night. She was charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Home Invasion and Assault 2nd Degree.

The victim reportedly suffered lacerations to his mouth, arms and legs but refused treatment.
