Defendant In Death Of Millersville U. Student Waives Prelim

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A man accused of beating and strangling a college freshman in her Millersville University dormitory is waiving a preliminary hearing.

Lancaster County court officials said 19-year-old Gregorio Orrostieta waived the hearing Monday, a day before he had been due in court on a charge of criminal homicide.

Orrostieta is accused of killing girlfriend Karlie Hall of Chadds Ford in early February.

Police say Orrostieta told them he shoved Hall, causing her to fall and hit her head, then struck her in the face.

Authorities say they found him trying to administer CPR after calling 911, but they allege that was faked and she had been dead for hours.

Orrostieta's lawyer Robert Brown isn't commenting on the decision to waive the hearing.
