Police: Mother, 6-Year-Old Son Stabbed To Death Inside Apartment

MAPLE SHADE, N.J. (CBS) — A murder investigation is underway in South Jersey after police say a father made a tragic discovery in his own home.

Police say he found his wife and young son dead in their Maple Shade apartment, as they were stabbed multiple times.

Maple Shade police were called to Fox Meadow Apartments around 9 p.m. Thursday.

People living in the complex say a man had run from one of the apartments, screaming repeatedly, "My wife is gone, my wife is gone."

"All he kept saying was, 'blood everywhere blood everywhere she's dead she's dead'. It was so sad to see him so distraught," said Neighbor Kris Davis.

Authorities confirmed the man's wife, 38-year-old Sasikala Narra, and son, 6-year-old Anish Narra, were killed in the home.

People who live in the surrounding apartments are struggling to understand how this could've happened.

"Total total disbelief, total disbelief. I can't imagine, can't imagine," said Dexter Stevenson who lives across the street from where the homicides happened.

Most say they did not hear or see anything out of the ordinary.

"I didn't see any damage to the door or any break-ins of that type, so right now this is a mystery," said Stevenson.

Officials say "at this point there is no indication that this is a hate crime connected to the fact that the victims are of Indian origin."

The Maple Shade Police Department and Burlington County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.

No arrests have been made.
