Deadly Police-Involved Shooting Under Investigation In Ocean County

BRICK Twp., NJ (CBS) – The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a police-involved shooting that left a man dead in Brick Township.

Authorities say preliminary investigation indicates that around 10:50 p.m. Sunday night, police were dispatched to 47 Cherry Wood Circle in Brick Township after a male called 9-1-1 and allegedly stated he was going to create a disturbance.

Police say officers rushed to the scene and upon arrival they were confronted by the male approaching them from the residence with what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun.

Authorities say the male refused to drop the weapon and officers discharged their weapons, striking the armed man several times and fatally injuring him.

Officials have identified the man as 21-year-old Julian Hoffman, of Brick Township.

The incident is under investigation.
