Pit Bull Found Dead In Trash Bag In Olney With Mouth Taped Shut

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - After a dog was viciously attacked and killed in the Olney section of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania SPCA is asking for your help finding whoever is responsible.

It was around 7pm Thursday Nicole Wilson with the PSPCA says they found a black Pit bull on the 200 block of West Godfrey Avenue dead inside a trash bag. The dog's mouth was taped shut...

"When we brought her back to the shelter, we were able to see that not only had she had this tape wrapped around her mouth, but additionally she had been stabbed multiple times on both sides of her body."

Wilson says the stab wounds were the likely cause of death, which is very worrisome:

"We have significant concerns that individuals who would commit this type of crime against an animal pose a danger to people."

Now the PSPCA is searching for the person or persons who did this.

"No animal deserves to suffer what she suffered and we are just asking anybody with any kind of information to please contact us," says Wilson.

They are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. If you know anything, Wilson asks you call the PSPCA tip line at (866) 601-SPCA. Tips can be left anonymously.

There was a black collar on the dog when she was found, but no owner identification.
