New Jersey Man Admits Shooting, Killing Former Employer During Robbery

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man has admitted he shot and killed his former employer during a robbery at the victim's home.

David Stead initially was charged with murder in the July 2016 death of Thomas Wright II at his Tabernacle home. But the 44-year-old Pemberton man pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated manslaughter.

Stead faces a 30-year prison term when he's sentenced Sept. 18.

Burlington County prosecutors have said Stead went to Wright's home to rob him but instead shot him "multiple times" in the head and neck. He then allegedly stole a small amount of cash and drove off in a rented truck Wright had been using.

Wright's father found his son's body after the victim didn't show up at a job site.

Stead had once worked for Wright's masonry business.
