Darren Sproles Named Sportsmanship Award Finalist

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Darren Sproles is one of the eight finalists for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, the NFL announced on Monday.

Each NFL team nominates one player for the award, which was created in 2014 and recognizes players around the league who exemplify outstanding sportsmanship on the field in honor of the late founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pro Football Hall of Famer Art Rooney, Sr.

Current NFL players will vote on the winner of the award on Friday, December 16th. The winner will be announced on Saturday, February 4th and will received a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to a charity of his choice.

Sproles, 33, left Sunday's game with a head injury after taking a vicious hit in the fourth quarter while attempting to receive a punt.

Sproles has accounted for 766 yards from scrimmage this season on 78 carries and 47 catches.
