Darin Ruf Down With Strained Oblique

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Darin Ruf's mission to make the 2014 Phillies Opening Day roster may have taken a hit on Thursday.

Ruf was scratched from the Phillies lineup in the team's Thursday Spring Training game due to a strained oblique. Ruf suffered the injury during batting practice, and will undergo more testing on Friday.

While it's unknown how severe the injury is, Chase Utley missed nearly 30 games in 2013 with a strained oblique. It's an injury that can make it difficult to swing the bat.
