DA: Woman Accused Of Abandoning Quadriplegic Son In Woods Charged With Attempted Murder

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia mother who is accused of leaving her quadriplegic son in the woods earlier this month has been charged with attempted murder and other related charges, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Police say Nyia Parler abandoned her 21-year-old son near her Cobbs Creek home earlier this month, so she could visit her boyfriend in Maryland.

Authorities say a pedestrian found her son lying on the ground with only a blanket and a bible.

Parler waived extradition in Maryland and returned to Philadelphia earlier this week.

The DA's office says her bail has been set $2.5 million bail.

A preliminary hearing date will be set early next week.
