DA: Transit Cop Charged With False Imprisonment For Christmas Day Incident
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A former Philadelphia transit officer is charged with handcuffing a woman who complained that he cut the line for coffee at a Dunkin' Donuts on Christmas morning.
Prosecutors say 42-year-old Douglas Ioven was in uniform at Suburban Station when he jumped the line.
They say one woman complained that he also stepped on her foot, prompting a confrontation between them.
Officials say the woman decided to file a complaint with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority's police unit — only to find Ioven on duty.
They say he handcuffed her and charged her with disorderly conduct.
A Septa spokeswoman says those charges were dropped, while the officer was fired.
He is charged Thursday with false imprisonment, harassment and other charges. It's not immediately clear if he has a lawyer.
