Family Seeks Answers After Fatal Hit-Run In West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for the driver involved in a deadly West Philadelphia hit-and-run that happened over the weekend.

The victim's mother is now speaking out and hoping the person who left her son for dead comes forward.

Channabel Latham-Morris, in Philadelphia, from New York. Her son Jamal was killed in a hit-and-run and as police search for clues, she hopes her emotional plea to the driver makes a difference.

"So you need to know that I forgive you. Please come forward and let the world know. Let the people know, let the police know."

Jamal Morris, a Drexel grad who worked for an engineering firm, died at the hospital this past Monday. He was taken there early Saturday morning after police found the 27-year-old lying on the street at 45th and Market.

Police say they first thought he was was assaulted, but later determined he was hit by a car while riding his bike.

Police say they have little evidence to work with and ask anyone with information to give them a call.
