Car Involved In Police Chase Crashes, Wraps Around Business Sign, Authorities Say

CHADDS FORD, Pa. (CBS) — A car involved in a police chase crashed and wrapped around a business sign in Chadds Ford on Wednesday afternoon, Pennsylvania State Police say. The accident happened on the 100 block of Wilmington West Chester Pike, around 2 p.m.

The accident occurred in front of the Auto & Truck Outfitters store.

Police say a trooper was attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a Hyundai Elantra for traffic violations, when the driver failed to yield and traveled southbound on Wilmington Pike.

Video from Chopper 3 showed rescue personnel working to free the individual from the overturned vehicle. The driver is being treated.

There is no word on what caused the accident.

The southbound lanes were closed but have since reopened.

Police are investigating the incident.
