Crews Work To Repair Water Main Break In Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Crews were the scene of a water main break early Sunday morning in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood.

The 12-inch break happened just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Girard and Montgomery Avenues.

Officials say about one hundred properties were left without water as a result of the break.

Traffic was able to get around the area, but drivers were being urged to use caution.

There were concerns of icing because of the frigid temperatures.

The freezing temepartures also caused a water main break in Center City.

That 6-inch break occurred Saturday at 10th and Filbert Streets.

The water froze almost instantly making it difficult to repair, but crews were able to eventually fix the break overnight.
