Crews Search For Missing Swimmer In Monroe Township

MONROE Twp., N.J., (CBS) – Rescue crews are searching for a missing swimmer in Monroe Township, Gloucester County.

Chopper 3 was over the scene Wednesday at Jackson Road near Piney Hollow Road.

Monroe Township Police say four people were swimming in a lake on the State Fish and Wildlife Management area property. According to police, a 17-year-old male was not able to make it to shore.

Friends of the victim say he is a high school senior.

Police say emergency personnel searched the area. New Jersey State Police TEAMS were called to assist and are continuing the search.

Neighbors say the water the victim was last seen jumping in to is deeper than it looks.

Police have not released the name or age of the swimmer.
