Crews Battle 3-Alarm Fire In Montgomery County

LOWER PROVIDENCE Twp., Pa., (CBS) – Lower Providence Township Police say a multi-alarm fire destroyed a maintenance building at Valley Crest Landscaping Monday night.

Officials say the fire was reported around 8:25 p.m. Monday at the 400 block of North Park Avenue in Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County.

Police say the blaze was placed under control in an hour with crews remaining on scene until 1 a.m.

The building was unoccupied and the business closed at the time of the fire, according to police.

No injuries were reported.

Police say the 250' by 75' building was used to store mechanics' equipment. The Montgomery County HAZMAT unit was on hand because of the presence of vehicle repair solvents/chemicals in the building.

Investigators have determined the room of origin to be a mechanical room but the cause remains undetermined, according to police.

The Lower Providence Township Fire Marshal, Pa. State Police Fire Marshal and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau are continuing their investigation.

Anyone with information or concerns regarding the fire is asked to contact the Lower Providence Township Fire Marshal at 610-539-5901.
