Couples Marry In Annual Valentine's Day Wedding Ceremony At City Hall

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Love was in the air at City Hall as 47 couples got married in the annual Valentine's Day wedding ceremony.

Judge Holly Ford of Philadelphia's court of common pleas is coordinator of the annual Valentine's Day weddings at City Hall. She says, it's quite a sight to have 11 judges marry nearly 50 couples in one shot.

"The closest I can come is controlled pandemonium! Each of the judges has their own station. When they come through the door, they get checked in by the marriage license bureau who then sends them to the proper judge."

Michael Baird was one of the many grooms here. Why would he and his bride choose a mass wedding like this?

"I was married once and she hasn't been married yet, but we're both a little bit older so we figured this was a lot easier than a big to-do wedding."
