Could Philadelphia Be The Next Hot Spot For International Soccer?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia may become the next international hot-spot for soccer.

Soccer or football, as it's known around the world, may be finalizing plans for a Scottish game to be played on Lincoln Financial Field.

A United Kingdom newspaper reports Scotland's Dundee United Football Club will have a home game here in the US, against and Celtic Football Club, and Philadelphia is likely the spot.

Local soccer star Heather Mitts is a former Olympian and says it's something to be excited about.

"Soccer here in the United States is continuing to grow, and I think this is a great way to help it," Mitts said. "It definitely brings in a different flavor from around the world."

The match could draw 69,000 fans to the Linc'.

"If you are having tourists from all over the world that come here to Philadelphia, and they're seeing their favorite team come here to play, I mean what better experience to be able to be at the Linc', be here in Philadelphia, embracing the culture and to be able to see a different type of soccer."
