Cost Of Living Raises Boost Top Pa. Officials' Pay
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The salaries of Pennsylvania's top elected and appointed officials are about to increase, thanks to their annual cost-of-living adjustment.
The 1.6 percent increase announced Thursday will boost the governor's salary by more than $3,000 a year to nearly $191,000, although a spokesman says Gov. Tom Corbett and his top advisers and appointees have refused the raises since the administration took office in 2011.
The elected row officers — attorney general, treasurer and auditor general — will see their salaries increase by $2,500 to nearly $159,000.
Judges' pay also is increasing, with boosts of more than $3,000 for state Supreme Court justices.
Legislators' base pay will rise by $1,300 to more than $85,000.
The increases take effect in December for the Legislature and in January for the executive and judicial branches.
