Coronavirus In New Jersey: Gov. Murphy Orders Malls, Amusement Parks To Close After Coronavirus Cases Surge To 267
TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) -- Gov. Phil Murphy is ordering all malls and amusement parks in the state to close as the number of coronavirus cases has surged to 267 in the state. During a Tuesday press conference, effective as of 8 p.m. tonight, Murphy ordered the closure of all indoor shopping malls, amusement parks and amusement centers across the state until the current emergency ends.
Three patients in the state have died, including a man in his 90s who passed away in Bergen County.
The Camden Diocese also announced Tuesday that all weekday and Sunday masses are suspended until further notice to limit the virus from spreading.
On Monday, Murphy ordered the closure of all New Jersey schools, bars, restaurants and casinos in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Murphy is prohibiting gatherings of 50 or more people, lining up with federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations.
