Cops: Woman's Ex-Boyfriend Shot, Killed After Breaking Into Her Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A man was shot dead in West Philadelphia after police say he was trying to break into his ex-girlfriend's house.

Police were called out to the home on the 800 block of North Markoe Street after midnight and inside they found a 33-year-old man shot in the chest on the second floor.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

What happened? Lieutenant John Walker says he broke in the house, which is where his ex lives with their two children.

"She along with the new boyfriend push him out of the rear window, first floor."

But Walker says he was able to get in through a second floor window.

Police say he then began to physically confront the woman and her boyfriend. That's when authorities say thew new boyfriend allegedly shot him.

The alleged shooter fled the scene before police arrived.

An investigation is ongoing.
