Cops: Woman Suspected Of DWI Drives Wrong-Way On NJ Turnpike, Crashes At Police Station

BASS RIVER, N.J. (CBS) -- It's never, ever a good idea to drive drunk. It's even worse to pull into the parking lot of a police station the wrong way while driving drunk.

That's exactly what New Jersey State Police say a female driver did and now she's facing charges.

At about 5 a.m. on October 9th, officers at the Bass River Station received a call about a wrong-way driver traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway in the area of milepost 51.

Investigators say as Trooper Kimberly Snyder exited the station to check the area for the wrong-way driver, she observed Colleen Johnson, 56, of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., pull into the station parking lot from the southbound lanes and strike a concrete curb as she pulled into a parking spot.

Trooper Snyder arrested Johnson for DWI.

Johnson was charged with DWI, refusal to submit a breath sample, reckless driving and driving the wrong way on a highway.

Officials with the New Jersey State Police said Johnson entered the southbound lanes traveling northbound from the Atlantic City Service Area.
