Police: Pennsylvania Man Claimed To Be Cop In Effort To Lure Girl, 15

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. (AP) -- A Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he followed a 15-year-old girl in his car and claimed to be a police officer while trying to lure her into his vehicle to "mess around."

Police in New Kensington say the girl and her mother reported the incident in November.

The girl recorded some of the encounters on her smartphone and police were able to obtain surveillance video from various businesses to piece together other parts of the alleged incident before arresting 44-year-old William Durci Jr., of Creighton.

Durci didn't comment about the charges, including attempted kidnapping and impersonating a public service, at his arraignment Tuesday.

Police say he asked the girl, "Want to mess around?" and, also, at one point told her, "I'm a cop. I want you to be safe. Get in."
