Cops: Man Taken Into Custody After Telling Police He Killed His Girlfriend

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say they received a call early Monday morning from a male who stated he just killed his girlfriend inside of their Kensington residence.

Officers responded to the scene on the 3200 block of Rorer Street, where they found the 28-year-old Veronica Rodriguez lying unresponsive in a second floor bedroom.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at 2:39 a.m.

Police say they retrieved the suspect's vehicle information and apprehended 24-year-old Juan A. Camacho around 4:45 a.m. at Thompson and Cumberland Streets in Port Richmond.

An autopsy revealed the cause of death as a result of manual strangulation/asphyxiation.

Camacho was charged with murder, rape, sexual assault along with several other related offenses.
