Cops: Man Shoots At Brother Trying To Intervene In Fight Over Facebook Friend Request

SPRING GROVE, Pa. (AP) — Police say a Pennsylvania man fired a shotgun at his brother after that man tried to break up an argument between the suspect and his wife over a Facebook friend request.

Southwestern Regional Police in York County say 38-year-old Cory Beard and his wife argued about 2:30 a.m. Sunday after she saw the friend request from another woman on Beard's phone.

When Beard's brother tried to separate the couple, police say Beard fired a .20-gauge shotgun over his brother's head saying, "Shut up or I'm gonna take you out." Beard's brother fled to a nearby restaurant and called 911.

Police later found Beard at his mother's house and say Beard claimed he fired in self-defense because his brother wouldn't leave his property.

Beard doesn't have an attorney or listed telephone.
