Cops: Game May Have Led To Shooting In Cobbs Creek

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say a game may have led to a shooting in Cobbs Creek overnight.

Around 11 p.m., police got a call of multiple gunshots on the 100 block of North 54th Street.

Investigators found blood and several shell casings on the street.

Around the same time, police received a report that a 24-year-old man was dropped off at Mercy Hospital with gunshot wounds to the face, arm and leg.

Police believe there might be more than one shooter because the shell casings were of two separate calibers.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says, "We're getting information from the officers that often individuals are out here gambling and playing cards, so the motive may be related to a dice game or a card game."

Authorities say the victim was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and is in stable condition.

Police do not have a suspect description yet.
