Cops: Chester County Man Charged In Alleged Road Rage Incident
WEST WHITELAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – Police say a 49-year-old man has been charged in connection to an alleged road rage incident in Chester County on Monday.
Authorities say the victim was driving with his 18-year-old son on E. Swedesford Road when Scott Sanford, of Exton, began tailgating the vehicle.
Sanford allegedly passed the victim's car of the left and nearly struck the vehicle as he pulled back in front of the victim's car and then stopped.
Police say Sanford then allegedly exited his vehicle with a retractable baton in his hand and started to approach the victim's vehicle.
The victim backed his car away from Sanford and police say Sanford then got back into his vehicle and drove away.
Authorities say the victim's son recorded the incident on his cell phone.
Patrol officers located Sanford after viewing the video and were able to recover the baton.
Police say Sanford has been charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, prohibited offensive weapon, possessing instruments of crime, recklessly endangering another person, harassment and traffic offenses.
