Cops: Cat Shot With Crossbow In Burlington County

DELANCO, NJ (CBS) -- Police are investigating the attempted killing of a cat in Burlington County.

Delanco Police say on June 11 they found a cat with an arrow sticking through it.

The cat was taken to a veterinarian where the arrow was removed.

Authorities say the cat was hit with a crossbow and the arrow was equipped with a field point, which is typically used for target practice.

Pet owner, Ryan Szczesniewski says, "On the way to the animal hospital I was just praying. I was like, 'Oh my God, she's not going to make it there."

The cat is doing well and is expected to survive, police say.

Burlington County and NJ SPCAs are offering a $1,000 reward for information.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to call Humane Police at (609)-914-4255.
