Autism Program Teacher Accused Of Assaulting 6-Year-Old Student

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – An Autism Program teacher has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a six-year-old student, police say.

Authorities say state police detectives were contacted by the Delaware Autism Program administration who told them that a six-year-old boy at Etta J. Wilson Elementary School had been assaulted by his teacher on October 16.

Police say it was determined that the teacher, 52-year-old Anne Gullo, allegedly pushed the student, who then fell into a bookshelf, resulting in a minor injury to his back.

On October 26, police say a warrant was obtained charging Gullo with second degree child abuse.

She turned herself in to authorities and was arraigned at the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas.

Police say she was issued a $500 unsecured bail and released.
