Convicted Child Rapist Gets 20 Years In Prison

GEORGETOWN, Del. (CBS)– A Millsboro man has received a two decade prison sentence for raping a young victim.

On Tuesday, the Delaware Attorney General's Office announced the sentencing of 54-year-old James D. Ross.

In the spring of 2013, Delaware State Police opened an investigation after a Millsboro Middle School student revealed to a school counselor that she was a victim of sexual abuse.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was sexually abused repeatedly as a pre-teen over a period of four years by an individual known to her family.

Ross was indicted this past summer and pled guilty in Sussex County Superior Court to Rape and Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child.

At a hearing, Ross was to 20 years in prison for his crimes.

Ross has been locked up since May.
